Does anyone know what the Amex Rewards Card Membership Programme is and what the benefits are if I take up the card?

I don’t have a pleasant story with all these cards that promise rewards and out of the world benefits so I want to be double sure this Amex Rewards Card is worth it and not just empty promises. Can I have a quick update about this card?

I think this reward card is the real deal that delivers on its reward promises. You will have to sign up for the cards Membership Rewards Programme to first earn 1 Membership Rewards point for every $1 spent. In addition, you will receive 50% more bonus points on the first $5,000 you charge to your American Express Rewards Card at your Favourite five places. Just take your pick over a selection of 150 outlets which include supermarkets, petrol stations, fashion outlets, restaurants and electronic stores. I also like the opportunity they offer to earn 50% bonus points faster when one spends $5,000 on the Card in a calendar year on all your spend, every time, everywhere. And of course unlike other loyalty programmes, Membership Rewards points never expire.

50% bonus points on all your spend every time and everywhere

I think it is great the promotion they have which promises that if you spend $5,000 on your card in a calendar year you will get 50% bonus points on all your spend every time and everywhere. Interestingly also you receive 24,000 bonus points when you spend $500 a month for the first three months of the Card membership. That is enough points to redeem for $110 cash credit or 13,250 miles

Points cannot be redeemed for cash

Points cannot be redeemed for cash. The Membership Rewards programme lets you redeem points for a long list of money-saving vouchers, merchandise and even airline frequent flyer miles. But unfortunately you don't get an option to redeem for cash, so if you prefer flexible cash rewards, then maybe you should go for other cashback cards.

OCBC Frank Card offers young adults a great, no-fee way to earn cashback from social and online spend

OCBC Frank Card stands out for its low minimum spend requirement and annual fee waiver however, it’s not a great match for consumers seeking everyday cashback. Online spend on utilities, recurring bills, and school and hospital payments are all not eligible for rebate. Dining, groceries, and other categories are also not rewarded. Ultimately, OCBC Frank Card offers young adults a great, no-fee way to earn cashback from social and online spend. OCBC Frank Card is definitely worth consideration.

Pleasant Rewards

In my opinion, this card is one of the best cards in the market especially as there are no expiry date to miles earned and an amazing 2 VIP airport lounge access. I love the fact that the card can be used for major big ticket items and to clock mileage. Redemption can be done easily without hassle and customer service staff are very helpful

This card gives me $80 cash rebates every month.

I fancy the OCBC 365 credit because it has cash rebate of $80, but only after you full fill their criteria. They require a minimum spending of $800 per month which in turn earns interest from different spending. This card suits me just fine being that I have broad spending habit and in the process it gives me $80 cash rebates every month. My only dislike is the rebate on the general spending which is 0.3%.

Customer care service at top notch

This is my first credit card and I was pleased with the process as the application was absolutely stress free and smooth with customer care service at top notch. I actually felt taken care of and it appeared I could rely on customer care service for virtually any issue. Plus they have a simple tracking system of cashback rewards, with a good App and web UI/UX.

Zero Travel Related Online Merchants

The Citi SMRT card is a pretty decent card for spending but they unfortunately exclude travel related online merchants. This to me is the downside of the card and may be a reason to get another card for travel websites.
