Is it just me or UOB One online card application services are just so bad?

Very true there online services are terrible and card applications very bad experience too. In my case I tried to apply for the UOB one card for about 3 weeks. I first tried to apply through internet banking account, got rejected because I had to upload all my documents. I uploaded my documents and applied. Then began the series of excuses and unprofessionalism which resulted in getting a solution after one long week.

In respect to the minimum requirement of five transactions per month for the UOB One card does each GRAB ride count as one transaction? For the minimum 5 transactions per month for the UOB one card, does each GRAB ride count as 1 transaction?

Yes it does, take a second glance at the quarterly cash rebate and you will notice that there is a total minimum spending of at least $500 monthly for three consecutive months to qualify for benefits.

I wonder why the UOB One supplementary card cannot be used together with the main card to hit the minimum spend?

I too have a joint one account with my partner and based on our experience, the supplementary card does not count towards the $500 minimum spend as we were made aware of this reality a few months into it. You can try to request another card for the main card holder making it two debit cards under the main holders name but say a MasterCard and one Visa. It will probably help both spending counts to hit the tier.

Can one apply for a UOB One Card from UOB without having a bank account with the bank?

Well you definitely can as you should understand that a bank account is only one type of product the bank offers from very many. For me personally I have credit cards with both DBN and CITI but I have no bank accounts with them. Be rest assured they will give you an iBanking account to access the credit card rewards portal.

I realise I have been spending more than my maximum cashback limit on the UOB One Card recently. Would it be a good idea to get another miles card as a secondary card?

In my opinion, I think you can charge your expenses to the company then look into more cash back cards or get a miles card, however If your income is high enough then look into the higher tier cards, that is those with an income of $120,000 and above that offer free lounge access as this will make your travel more comfortable. So if you expect to be spending consistently more than the max cashback limit, then no harm looking for another card to accumulate more point. Good luck!

How does a self-employed apply for UOB one card?

If you don’t have a payment slip, you can submit your Income tax statement as that works too but they will require about two years’ worth of it and a minimum annual income of S$30,000 OR a Fixed Deposit collateral of at least S$10,000. If you are able to automate payments of at least $500 to the card, it will get you 3% cash rebate. Also, you will have privileges to UOB promotions as well.
