UOB JCB Card

If you are planning a trip to japan the UOB JCB Card is a very okay card companion. You can expect to get 6% rebate at your favourite Japanese merchants like Isetan, Meidi-Ya, Tokyu Hands, UNIQLO, Ichiban Boshi, Ichiban Sushi, Kuriya Dining, Kuriya Japanese Market and Sushi Tei with $300 minimum spend per calendar month or 3% rebate with no minimum spend. There is then a 0.3% cash rebate for all other spend with a myriad of curated privileges from dining to retail therapy at your favourite brands in over 20 countries. The privileges even extend to a 10% discount on luggage free travel with complimentary access to airport lounges.

For a Singapore citizen eligibility requires that you are 21 or above with a minimum annual income of $30,000 or a Fixed Deposit collateral of minimum $10,000. You should expect to pay a yearly fee of $64.20 but can enjoy the first year fee. Supplementary cards also get a free first year card and subsequently $32.10 yearly.

When traveling abroad, there are essentially two ways to check the acceptance of the UOB JCB card and that is via affiliate financial institutions that accept JCB cards and via JCB ATM locator. For the former, the ATM withdrawal limit may vary and you may not be able to withdraw a large amount of cash in a single session so do note that at some ATMs, you may have the option to select payment in a currency other than the local currency, for example, the Japanese yen and US dollars for cards issued in Japan. If you select payment in a currency other than the local currency, the payment amount will match the amount you have agreed to as listed on the receipt. Please note that the exchange amount is not based on JCB's rate, but the rate set independently by the ATM owner. On the other hand for the latter option which is the JCB ATM Locator, it makes it possible for you to search for ATMs nearby using your location or keywords, then check where the ATMs are located and how to reach them on a map. The location-based search and route finder are only available for smartphones unfortunately. We want to believe that they will incorporate it to operate on personal computers.

For self-employed you will need to provide your NRIC (front and back) and Latest billing proof (within the last 6 months) as per your local home address (e.g. telephone or utilities bills, etc.) if it differs from the address in NRIC and Latest Income Tax Notice of Assessment. Then proceed to enter your booking information on the LUGGAGE-FREE TRAVEL site. On the payment screen, enter the JCB Coupon number e.g. 20% off coupon number: 【jcblft202019】 (April 1, 2019 - June 30, 2019), then enter your JCB card information and the discount will be deducted from the amount. Check the information and finalize your booking. You will receive a confirmation email. Bring the confirmation email and JCB card to the designated kiosk on the day you booked. When you complete the delivery application, the system will automatically process the payment
