United Overseas Bank (UOB), a Singaporean Multinational Organisation, was established on 6 august 1935 in Singapore by the name of United Chinese Bank (UCB), to Emphasise its link to the Chinese population in Singapore. The bank catered mainly to the Fujian community in its initial stages. However the bank grew immensely within a few years and in 1965, the bank was renamed to United Overseas Bank as it inaugurated its first overseas branch in Hong Kong. Today UOB is the third largest bank in Southeast Asia by total assets, having a market capitalization of $32.9 Billion. UOB PRVI Miles Card earns you 1.4 miles local and 2.4 overseas

It really depends on what you are looking for but if it is for earning rates, then it is best you go with the UOB PRVI Miles Card but do note that your spending has to be minimum 5 dollars to accrue any miles . UOB PRVI Miles Card earns you 1.4 miles local and 2.4 overseas which is one of the better rates. In addition, this card does not contribute to UOB ONE account card spending. So you need to accumulate the minimum $500 spent monthly on other cards other than this.

I was able to use the card overseas without enabling the magnetic stripe of the card

It was a seamless process for me on my last overseas traveling with my UOB VISA Signature Card as I was able to use the card overseas without enabling the magnetic stripe of the card. I was able to make purchases at overseas merchants’ outlets by inserting my card into the merchant terminal (i.e. not swiped). But if the overseas merchant uses a terminal where the Card is required to be swiped in order to process the transactions, you will need to enable the magnetic stripe of you card before the transaction can be processed.

12% rebate promotion for 3 months activated after a minimum spend of $600

This is an okay card to fill the areas for dining, grab and entertainment as it offers more than the other cards I have used before but don’t wish to mention here. But note that 12% cash back is only for these categories, and any other categories would be best purchased with another card. If you eat out often and use grab frequently plus topping up of grab wallet, this would be a card for you. They have a recent 12% rebate promotion for 3 months, but activated after a minimum spend of $600. Easy to use for the rebate on weekend. Definitely a must for dining and entertainment. Young people favourite. Will definitely recommend to friends.

A maximum of 5% cash rebate on everything

I actually signed-up because of the attractive 3.88% interest with the UOB One Account. It made sense to use it as my daily card especially as it comes in a really fancy chrome coloured card. The UOB One Card is hands down UOB’s favourite entry level credit card especially for those with a UOB One account too. The credit card owes its fame to its key proposition- a maximum of 5% cash rebate on everything, no need to fumble about with different spending categories.

My girlfriends top pick for shopping groceries and the likes.

The UOB Delight Credit Card is the card to go with if the bulk of the spending’s are done at DFG Group, such as Guardian, Giant, Cold Storage. Long and short this card is like a one-stop shop card at the DFG Group of companies. That is the only major advantage I have from keeping this card as it comes in handy for me and my girlfriend when we are shopping groceries and the likes.

A rewards credit card that lets you earn 10X UOB rewards points on any spending category of your choosing

First of all, I must comment the new UOB Lady’s Card’s new design as a remarkable job. Beyond looks, the card itself is a rewards credit card that lets you earn 10X UNI$ (UOB rewards points) on any one spending category of your choosing. That’s equivalent to $1 = 4 air miles. Points are awarded for every $5 you spend. Only a few other credit cards let you earn 4 miles per dollar, and some of these are fairly restrictive. UOB has also removed the high minimum spend of $3,000 per month in order to earn rewards. Like all other rewards cards on the market, there’s no minimum spend.

A cool 4 miles per dollar spent is given on some popular sites

This is one of those few rare cards that rewards 4miles per dollar when you use paywave to shop online with almost no requirements and a rather steep $ 1000 monthly cap for the bonus miles. However they are a good card if you want miles but only if you spend a minimum of $5. They also give 4 miles per dollar spent on some popular sites

Probabaly the best metal card for luxury privileges

UOB Visa Infinite Metal Card is perhaps the best metal card for luxury privileges that consumers can apply for directly on their own rather than expecting to be beckoned on as cardholders earn at a fairly standard rate of 1.4 miles per S$1 locally and 2 miles overseas, and receive 25,000 bonus miles equivalent of S$250 with every payment of the S$642.0 annual fee.Overall, UOB visa Infinite Metal Card’s support services are some of the best on the market for everyday assistance

You can actually apply for a credit card and personal loan at the same time

To apply for a UOB Personal Loan, you’ll need either a UOB CashPlus account or UOB credit card as UOB draws from your credit card limit. If you’re new to UOB, you can apply for a credit card and personal loan at the same time but note that terms & conditions like the fee schedule of the credit card will also apply to your UOB Personal Loan. UOB bank is one of the few banks that provide instant approval for personal loans for submissions between 7am to 8pm by new UOB customers.

A no-no for individuals seeking the cheapest car loan

This car loan is a no-no for individuals seeking the cheapest car loan or borrowers seeking to refinance their existing car loan as interest rates of 2.78% and 2.98% don’t come cheap. Irrespective, UOB could be a good backup source of car financing for individuals that are not approved for loans from other banks. Additionally, the bank is unique because it offers flexible car loan repayment schemes and Certificate of Entitlement (COE) loans for used cars.

UOB's debt consolidation plan is an effective yet expensive alternative to other plans

UOB's debt consolidation plan is best viewed as an expensive alternative to other plans because the bank advertises interest rates that are higher than those of its competitors. Borrowers that have not previously used UOB's services are however eligible for slightly better rates but it is unclear what rates these borrowers will receive in due to the vague wording on the UOB's website

Charging annual fees on a debit card,

UOB has several debit cards in its stable, but I would urge you to ignore the crowd and quantity and go for quality like the UOB Delight Debit Card. But I think it’s quite absurd that they are charging annual fees on a debit card, yes that is right, yes, believe it or not, UOB charges annual fees on their debit cards – and some are not that easy to waive.

I cant tell if it is the App or my phone malfunctioning

This app has been lagging badly for these past one week or thereabout. It got stuck a couple of times last week, while this week, it is just says "busy" while entering the app or after I click to transact. Not sure if it is my upgrade to Android 10 or something else. I wonder if it is my phone that is the problem
