Should I be using a time tracking software?

Time management is really important for a company and being able to track your employee's productivity and how they spend their time is important but is time tracking really doing what it's supposed to be doing? Is it really beneficial for the company? What are the pros and cons of using a time tracking software?

There are numerous advantages in using a time tracking software. One of which is that you could hold your team accountable for how they use their time. Transparency and objectivity are the other advantages. Motivating your employees by using a software with an objective metrics. The main disadvantage to this is reductionism where you know how long it takes to finish the task but you don't know how it was finished. The most noticeable disadvantage is paranoia. This would cause your employees to be paranoid because they know that someone is watching them all the time.
