Swapping/ Selling as a job

I am planning to be a self-employed employee and the business that came to my mind is by swapping or selling up things with my clients to get what I want. Technically, it was possible that I get what I want by swapping up and I will be able to decluttered my things if I sell some unnecessary objects I have in our house.

Technically, it is illegal to be self-employed because most workers will complain. It is because workers in companies are paying taxes whereas self-employed workers avoid paying taxes because they are not in the list of person that works. They are not recognized as workers because they are self-employed.
