A contract of service is an agreement in which one person agrees to employ another as an employee and the other person agrees to serve the employer as an employee. It can be in writing, verbal, expressed or implied but to minimize misunderstandings and disputes, the contract should be in writing. All employees under the Employment Act should recieve the key employment terms in writing. Employees should also recieve the KET within 14 days from the start of work.

Employees and employers register their salary and dismissal related claims at the ATDM. A claim referal certificate to the Employment Claims Tribunal (ECT) will be issued if claims cannot be resolved through mediation.
