What Credit Card is recommended for one looking for the best deals with air miles?

I just graduated from college and plan to spend most of one year travelling the world before I settle down to a career path. What credit card would you recommend for me with good benefits and air miles?

I like the HSBC Premier Mastercard Credit Card for its good mile-buying opportunity for 40,000 miles at $488 for HSBC Premier Clients, also the unlimited priority pass for both the principal and supplementary cardholders makes this card worth the fee provided there are supplementary cardholders to share the benefits with and that it will be heavily utilized. Furthermore, the departure airport limo service is a plus point and the meet-and-assist can be helpful at overly crowded airports without Fast-Track/ABTC/Diplomatic lines. Bottom Line, if you are both a HSBC Premier client and a frequent traveller that can maximize the number of priority pass visits, limo and meet-and-assist services, and your supplementary cardholders are too, then this is the card for you( you could consider referring your friends). The reduced general mile earn rate is worth the trade-off for the unlimited priority pass memberships, as well as the high number of limo and meet-and-assist services that you can use.

5% year-round cash rebates on dining, groceries, petrol and more

For me nothing beats the 5% year-round cash rebates on dining, groceries, petrol and transport (that is taxis, ride hailing, trains and buses inclusive), locally and overseas when you spend minimum S$600 per month. And the cash rebate is capped at S$150 per month. So if you don’t drive, not to worry as you can enjoy 5% cash rebate for your transportation needs, be it a taxi ride, a booking made via ride hailing apps, or trains/buses.

The application process for this card was not stressful as is the case with other cards.

With this card the outstanding highlight will probably be that you can earn one Rewards point for every S$1 charged to your card. In addition, you can also enjoy the exclusive privilege to redeem more rewards with fewer points on selected rewards items. Plus the application process for this card was not stressful as is the case with other cards.

Earn rebates in the form of cash rebates and LinkPoints by shopping at NTUC

Even as the OCBC Plus! Visa is not a cashback card, thus there is no cap, or "maximum" cash back, you get to still earn rebates in the form of cash rebates and LinkPoints by shopping at NTUC. However do note that there is a minimum spend of $500 in places outside NTUC before the full range of rebates and LinkPoints can be unlocked.

Earn up to 1% rebate on your purchase

If you target to spend on major event tickets and high price items with the plan to split by instalment then this card is for you. However I notice that if you have an existing OCBC saving account, it makes bill payments much more seamless. And aside from being able to split payment into monthly instalments interest free, you can earn up to 1% rebate on your purchase. Only few cards in the market that allow auto convert spending into interest free instalment and still be entitled to 0.5% or 1% cash rebate.

Ease of use to accumulate on miles

The American Express Krisflyer Credit Card has an attractive sign up bonus and it is easy to use to accumulate on miles as no conversion into KF account is required, and monthly auto “sweeping” of miles help save in the conversion fee. I also have had good experiences with their customer care service as the call center service is absolutely awesome.
