You are entitled to your gross rate of pay on a public holiday if you were not absent on the working day before or after a holiday without consent or you are on authorised leave. The Employment Act states that if a public holiday falls on a non-working day, you are entitled to another day off or one extra day's salary in lieu of the public holiday.

The program supports the elderly who had low incomes through life and now have little or no family support. In every company, there are people who work hard to feed their families. But there are some cases that the employer does not pay the employees at the right amount. Before you start your work, there is a contract that should be signed. All the terms and conditions are there and the benefits that you are gonna get. If the employer breaches the contract, you can demand them to the authorities if the company would not cooperate.

EMployee harrassment should not be tolerated in any ways and in violation of the employment act. If you feel like you are being harrassed then you can reach out to the channels that handles grievances in your company or report your supervisor's behaviour to the top management. You can also approach your union for assistance or seek counselijng support from counseling centers.

You are entitled to 11 paid public holidays a year. If you are required to work on a public holiday, your employer should pay you an extra day’s salary or grant you off in lieu. The 11 gazetted public holidays are New Year’s Day, Chinese New Year – first and second day, Hari Raya Puasa, Hari Raya Haji, Good Friday, Labour Day, Vesak Day, National Day, Deepavali, Christmas Day.
